Years of experience in supplying water treatment additives have sharpened our knowledge and understanding of client and market needs. Hereby, we share our insights and observations, which can enhance companies’ offers or even help them to create and market a complete water treatment solution for swimming pools.

Mostly, basic pool water treatment tackles the following aspects:

Common additives, or chemical raw materials, are enough to address these parameters and final customers’ concerns.

1. Disinfection

Bacteria and dirt which are not removed by the filters are the primary issues that are solved by disinfection. Whereas non-chlorine materials are widely promoted for a personal pool water treatment, they are less efficient for public or spa pool applications. In this case, the widely used disinfection chemical is Sodium Dichloroisocyanurate Dihydrate (SDI). DOLCHEM SDI solution, Dulisoft, is extremely efficient for disinfection and sterilization of swimming pools, and this is a high-power and low-toxicity disinfector, substitute for traditional pool water treatment disinfectors as well. Quite popular in the US and Europe, it has the advantage of being less irritating for the skin and having less chlorine odor. Apart from being a disinfectant, SDI is also used as an algaecide, bactericide, fungicide, microbicide / microbiostat. Another part of the disinfection solution by DOLCHEM could be Trichloroisocyanuric Acid or Muline, also a low-toxicity disinfector and an alternative to traditional water treatment disinfectors.

2. Algae control

While SDI is equally effective exterminating both harmful organisms and algae appearing in the pool water, some additives are mainly needed to prevent algae growth. They are called algaecides (Algotreat) and they cannot replace regular disinfectants such as SDI. DOLCHEM algaecide solution is a polymeric quaternary ammonium-based algaecide that inhibits the ability of algae to grow and reproduce in swimming pools, especially unicellular algae growing in places frequented by human beings. Unlike other treatments, it has the advantage of not causing white foam on water surfaces and not causing filters to clog. Including disinfection materials and algaecides to your customized pool treatment solution is essential, but not yet complete.

3. Coagulation control

To improve the water quality and its sensation, a quality coagulant is needed. Polydiallyldimethylammonium chloride (PolyDADMAC) is effective in coagulating and flocculating inorganic and organic particles such as sand, silt, clay, algae, bacteria, and viruses. This is an ideal water purification material, and PolyDADMAC is deservedly used in pool water treatment as a primary organic coagulant, and represented in DOLCHEM product range as Clear-pro.

4. Ph Control

The ultimate part of the solution is the additive which ensures the effectiveness of any other chemical added to the pool as well as the general comfort. These are Sodium Bisulfate and Sodium Carbonate used to adjust the Ph level in a swimming pool to a recommended pH range. To avoid a reduction of chlorine effectiveness, PH minus (Sodium Bisulfate 98%) is used primarily to lower pH in swimming pools and spas. It is known as a safe product. PH Plus (Sodium Carbonate 99%) is used to increase pH. Since any pool chemical additives affect the pool pH, a change in the pH level has an impact on the pool chemical effect as well.
